Satisfied Servants

Servant Hood

Since all believers are servants, the goal is to become satisfied with your service. Do you serve in a capacity that truly causes you to doubt why you may have become a servant. As a believer, servant hood is required.

Paul writes in Ephesians 2:10, "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them."

How Do Servants Act

According to Paul in the above verse, servants are created in Christ Jesus to do good works. Paul doesn't say that we are to sit in the kingdom and suck up oxygen. We are to work.

Notice too that Paul says that God prepared your works before you became a believer. God knows how you are wired. He knows your overall make up. He knows the results you can get as his servant.

However, you must learn to rest in Him.

Matthew 11:28-30, "Come to me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for you souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

Light Burdens -- No Oxymoron

You might ask, How can burdens become light? Maybe a better question is how did your burdens become heavy.

Working as a servant in the very works that God prepared for you from the beginning is never heavy. Heavy burdens come whenever you decided to place yourself in some ministry that God hasn't called you to.

I've seen men and women in churches who have become so tired of doing the same old thing over and over in church that they are drained of energy and faith.

However, let God take those same people. Let them pray and believe that Jesus will put them in the ministry for which they were designed. Suddenly, their burdens of serving become so light they don't recognize that they are serving.

I was called to preach. I preach every Sunday. Can I let you in on a little secret. It is not work for me. I'm doing the ministry I was created for. Jesus' yoke on me isn't heavy. It is light.

That my friends is the secret of rest. Allow the Holy Spirit to direct you gifts into the ministry that Jesus has given you. Suddenly, God gives you results.

Satisfied Servants

When you enter the rest that Jesus gives by performing the ministry for which you were created, you become a satisfied servant. Satisfied servants minister by faith. These servants believe their ministry comes from their Lord.

Satisfied servants allow the Holy Spirit to direct their ministry. They follow His directives; they listen to his voice; they work inside his goals and directives. Satisfied servants never lack work. However, they never grow weary serving.

Why? These servants are serving in the very ministry for which they were created!

Howard

Who You Are Isn't Based on Performance with God. Who You Are Should Have A Direct Bearing on How You Perform.
